California Breed Has Gone The Way Of Black Country Communion

After a great first album, the departure of a superstar drummer, and very little touring, California Breed is extinct. Guitarist/singer, and songwriter Andrew Watt posted this statement on the band's Facebook page:

"To the California Breed fans here...I put everything I had into this band...all I can say is I was in it for the long hall...I have a lot of new music for you guys...going to be announcing my plans soon...I cannot tell you how much I appreciate you supporting us, buying our music, coming to our shows...this is not the end...it is truly the beginning...cannot wait to continue the quest to bring rock n roll back to the people that are hungry for it...what an amazing learning experience for me here and introduction to an amazing world of people and fans that share love for the same thing."
Love,
Andrew Watt

It was preceded by this post just minutes before:

"The band is over...what a logo though right??"

It's unclear whose words those are, but things are quiet on Glenn Hughes Facebook fan page, so I'm assuming they are Watt's as well. After the departure of drummer Jason Bonham after just two shows, it seemed that this trip could be ill-fated, and unfortunately this turns out to be the case. This is Hughes's second band to go down in flames in a relatively short frame of time, the first being the Black Country Communion debacle of a few years prior.

Andrew Watt will go on to bigger and better things, and that's what the smart money was saying about this project from the beginning, but that's just the word on the street type of back alley conjecture that happens to have played out.

The bigger question is certainly where this leaves Glenn Hughes. He always lands on his feet, but this one has to sting. He keeps putting together great rock bands that make cool records only to go to seed. Good luck to all involved, and we'll see over the next few months of 2015 where it all leads. Never a dull moment in rock 'n' roll....

He's workin' hard toward being a solo act.

At least Watt can come out of this with an enhanced reputation - be good to see what he does next

I am bummed as I really wanted to see where the band could have gone.
That's rock and roll ain't it
