The Dictators NYC - Supply And Demand - Rock Ain't Near Dead™!

Holy hell! The new single by The Dictators NYC, the long venerated rock 'n' roll institution, is a force of nature.

"Supply And Demand", b/w a live rendition of the MC5 classic, "Kick Out The Jams" is as much fun as you will have listening to rock 'n' roll in 2015. From the Who approved crushing chords that announce its arrival to Ross The Boss Friedman's self described "Chuck Berry on steroids" Les Paul/Marshall howl to Handsome Dick Manitoba's superb rock 'n' roll manifesto lyrics and delivery, this sizzling piece of rock delivers on the promise of the past, the present, and future of this thing we love, this thing called rock 'n' roll. This dynamic duo have stepped up and not just matched, but added to this great band's legacy.

Bassist/producer Dean Rispler may be the secret weapon that takes it all over the top - you know The Dictators' veterans are on board - I've got to tell you, drummer J.P. "Thunderbolt" Patterson has never sounded better or more powerful behind the kit, and longtime collaborator Daniel Rey will rip your head off with his hard hitting rhythm guitar work, but it's Rispler's throbbing bassline and in-your-face, crystal clear and crushing production (with the aid of engineer Jesse Cannon) that will have you smiling from ear to ear.

The Dictators NYC were just The Dictators when they last released new material, they only added the NYC part after original singer/songwriter, and bassist Andy Shernoff had left the fold, and I think it's fair to say that the world wondered what the band would sound like without the often hilarious, but always melodic Shernoff writing the lion's share of the material. I'm happy as hell to announce that this single stands up to anything the band has ever done. Friedman wrote the music, Manitoba the poetry and melodies, and they've knocked it out of the park.

This is the tale of a band who had waited for their onetime leader for long enough, then when it was clear he wasn't coming back, they decided to wait no longer. This is the tale of a band that hit the road with a vengeance, renewing their vows with their fan base, and have now yet again unleashed a reason to believe that rock will never die.

The b-side is an audacious live take of "Kick Out The Jams", and it amply displays that this band is one of the most on-point, ferocious, straight up, no chaser outfits on the planet. No grass is growing under their Chuck Taylors.

I've now played this thing back to front about five times, and I'm still smiling like a little kid, grabbing my guitar to bash along with the band. If there was ever a clarion, loud and clear call to arms this is it - lightning strikes again as The Dictators NYC have emerged reborn as one of the great rock 'n' roll bands of their day. A day which has now lasted forty years.
